In January 2023, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) initiated a trusted partnership with the TCM Group, a renowned expert in organisational culture and conflict resolution.

The primary objective of this collaboration was to embed a comprehensive Resolution Framework within the BBC. The project began with a 5D Review: a deep dive into the BBC's organisational culture, aiming to inform the design of a new grievance policy that would promote a more inclusive and harmonious work environment.

Phase 1: the pilot

February 2023

BBC's 5D Review began in February, starting as a pilot project in BBC Scotland.

Phase 2: stakeholder engagement

Spring 2023

TCM's expert consultants hosted “Lunch and Learn” sessions on different topics for leaders, including transforming conflict at work and home, and building influencing and negotiation skills.

Phase 3: data and analytics

Summer 2023

TCM's People & Culture Strategy Coordinator Rebecca undertook qualitative data and statistic analysis to present to the BBC, including a cost of conflict calculator which highlighted the costs of formal litigation procedures versus the Resolution Framework™️.

Phase 4: reporting

August 2023

As a collaborative effort between TCM and the BBC, a final report was produced and circulated around the organisation in three versions: for leaders, for stakeholders and for employees.

The key stages of the review are:

Stage 1 Discover & Diagnose

During this stage of the 5D review, we collect data from a variety of sources. A desktop review of existing organisational data will provide an initial insight of the present picture. We will also gain input from key stakeholders through conversations, interviews and focus groups.

Stage 2 Dream

This phase is all about discovering where your organisation really strives to be. Is the current state helping you to achieve your strategic objectives? Is it helping to care for your employees?

Stage 3 Design & Deploy

Using data gathered from the initial phases, we’ll build an informed scope and pathway towards achieving the desired change. A comparison between the current state and desired outcomes will allow for a clear strategy for deployment to be built.
